The town was laid out the town on glacial flats in a perfect grid with large blocks and wide streets. This contrast between rugged mountain and neat grid is embodied in my drawing of Salt Lake City, Utah. The map area includes the original city grid and the Avenues, and the Wasatch Mountains. The mountains enfold the city to the northeast, and my drawing stretches just beyond I 15 to the west and I 80 to the south. This is a
